The right desk mat should cover the area where you actually work, leave a little desk visible around it, and not hang over the edges. Here's how to choose between our three sizes.

How to measure your desk
- Measure the width of the area you use, not the whole desk. For most people that's the space in front of the monitor where the keyboard and mouse sit.
- Measure the depth from the front edge of the desk to your monitor stand or the base of your monitor arm.
- Allow a margin. A mat looks best with some desk showing on each side and enough space behind it for the monitor stand.
- Think about how you work. Gamers who move the mouse a lot need more width. If you write, or use a laptop next to your keyboard, you'll want more depth.
Small: 30 x 70cm (12 x 27.5in)
Small fits neatly under a standard keyboard and mouse. It adds a professional finish without covering the whole desk, so it's ideal for compact desks, smaller home offices and anyone who likes a minimal look. As a rule of thumb, it suits desks up to around 120cm wide.
Medium: 30 x 90cm (12 x 36in)
Medium keeps the same depth as Small but adds 20cm of width. That gives your mouse more room, or space for a phone or coffee cup alongside the keyboard. It's a good match for wider desks and dual-monitor setups, typically 120 to 160cm wide.
Large: 40 x 90cm (15.75 x 36in)
Large adds 10cm of depth. That's enough to fit a keyboard and mouse with room for a notebook, or to give full coverage on a smaller desk. On larger gaming and standing desks it fills the empty space and makes the whole setup look intentional.
Quick answers
- Will a Large mat fit a 100cm desk? At 90cm wide it will fit, but it'll cover almost the full width. Medium or Small usually looks better on a narrow desk.
- What size for a standing desk? Measure the desktop; standing desks are often deep, so Large tends to work well.
- What size for gaming? If you play with low mouse sensitivity and use big arm movements, choose Medium or Large for the extra width.
